Meet Me: Carolyn Luby, 2014 Conversation Assistant

Hello parents, teachers,and students!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Carolyn, and I am the English Conversation Assistant this year at C.E.I.P Manuel Luis Acuña. I am very excited to be working here in Ourense with such excellent teachers and incredible students! I am 23 years old and am from the United States of America. I am from a state called Connecticut, which is very close to New York City on the east coast and my parents live on a farm in a state in the center of the country called Missouri. I recently graduated from the University of Connecticut (Uconn), where I received a degree in Women´s Studies, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. I also attended the University of Granada in Granada, Spain for a semester in the Spring of 2012. This is my first time living in northern Spain, and I am falling in love with Galicia and Ourense. The people of Ourense are so friendly and welcoming that I rarely feel like an "extranjera". Everyone here is so nice and patient with my Spanish that I am learning a ton; often the students are my teachers! I feel very fortunate to be working in such a great school with such great staff and students. I can honestly say that I look forward to coming to teach every day,  and that every day I thoroughly enjoy all of my classes and students. To the parents of the students of C.E.I.P Manuel Luis Acuña: you have a lot to be proud of in your children. They are intelligent, helpful, caring, motivated, and they always know how to make me smile. I am looking forward to seeing all that we can learn together during these next 8 months!
Until next time,
Carolyn
